Drawing Realistic Fire

through the pedestrian zone of Bietigheim

The 42,000-inhabitant City of Bietigheim - Bissingen is located 20 kilometers north of Stuttgart in the district of Ludwigsburg. The city was on the seventh with a little movie review November 2010 in the ARD program Anne Will represented. The film was shown that was planned in the seventies of the last century, through the center of Berlin Bietigheim a to build the flyover. Only through civic engagement, these plans is prevented and the historic old town to be preserved and renovated. Let us hope that we can say something soon, in connection with the project Stuttgart 21.

This is then clear what to expect when you visit the pedestrian zone of the district Bietigheim: a very picturesque and historic old town, restored many exemplary. Although it was also because of war damage, not all historic buildings are preserved. There are also some houses in the sixties and seventies of last century. On the whole, however you feel comfortable with a walk through the pedestrian zone and it is also clear that is constantly being worked on the rehabilitation of historical buildings and the beautification of the cityscape.

The pedestrian zone of Bietigheim focused mainly on the so-called main street. From the main road branches off a few short side surfaces, which also belong to the pedestrian zone. The main pedestrian street is almost exactly 500 meters long.

Now the old town of Bietigheim at some distance from the station located Bietigheim-Bissingen (1.7 kilometers). This one should not stop them from traveling by train or the S-Bahn line S5 to the station Bietigheim-Bissingen. The walk from the station to the old town of Bietigheim is amazingly beautiful, you will miraculously not a single time with a more busy street in touch.

After leaving the station, keep to the front of the station half left and can already see the first sign the historic old town. " It passes under the railway station road and then goes in a valley, the little traffic Wobachstraße down to the banks of the Enz Man the right bank of the Enz followed by the site of a former state garden show through, passes under the impressive railway viaduct, always remaining on the bank of the Enz, crossing under the Auwiesenbrücke and reached behind a water plant which Enzbrücke in the course of the Crown Mountain Road. This bridge has been designed as a pedestrian zone. Thus, the walk through the pedestrian zone begins already here.

The bridge leads to the crown mountain road as a pedestrian zone on the Enz, behind it is the pedestrian zone on the main road.
After the bridge, you reach the crown court. On the right side is the empty shopping center, on the crown center. Here resided until 2009, the department store chain Hertie. You can clearly feel, as the immediate environment is suffering from the closure of the warehouse. However, the building deserves not necessarily a beauty contest. Ideal would be a demolition and new construction, fits better to the buildings of the old town of Bietigheim.

The marketplace of Bietigheim with the 1549 Ulrich built fountain and the magnificent Town Hall built in 1507
opposite the town hall square, the arcades (built 1930) just to be renovated and expanded complex as multi-story shopping center. With this measure, expected to lead to an increase in the attractiveness of this part of town.

The Hornmoldhaus the Renaissance called the most beautiful half-timbered house from Bietigheim. Today this building is in the City Museum.

The castle was built in 1546 located in the western region of the main road. Today the building houses the music school, adult school and a brewery.
There are over the pedestrian zone to see of course a lot more historical buildings than shown here. In many buildings there are information boards. The old town of Bietigheim extends far beyond the realm of the pedestrian zone. On a round trip of almost 100 stations can get to know the main building of the old town. We do this at some point in this blog.
